In July 2018, BMD started a new project (MammoAssist, P2020 program) in a partnership with NEADVANCE, to develop a computer aided diagnosis (CAD) system for the detection and classification of microcalcifications in direct digital mammography.
The aim is to create an API which allows extending PACScenter with third-party image processing tools. The final CAD solution will be validated by several breast cancer physicians, in several major Portuguese centers.
